Hello friends
Hi Folks. I’m sorry for the long pause in my blog. I’ve been so busy I allowed myself to get caught up and didn’t sit down to write. Well, so much has happened over the past few months. After the Huffington Post article was released, it went viral and hit the front page of AOL 2 days later. That was such a thrill to see my story worldwide. Wow! Just the thought makes me giggle. Not long after that, my agent received a call from a producer from the “Today Show”. Yep, they did a feature on me and it aired at the end of August. Everything was filmed at B.B.Kings in NYC. It was a whirlwind of a day and was such a blast. I was up there for the first night of a 2 week tour with Delbert. I have been at home for the month of September except for a couple of trips to Louisville. I’m getting ready to hit the road with my band in October. I’ll also be launching a kickstarter campaign for tour support very soon. It’s time I take this show on the road and I’m gonna need some support from my friends, family and fans. On the homefront, my chicks are all doing well and giving us lots of fresh eggs. All of the other animals are very happy as well. We are still getting some vegetables from the garden and we’re getting ready to host our second “Howling Hoedown”. I have started writing a book. No telling how long it will take but will keep you posted. Until next time, keep smiling and live your dream..
July 11th, 2012. Hi Friends…This is a very exciting day for me and could be a life changer. There is an awesome article that was released this morning in The Huffington Post. It’s all about me signing a record deal and releasing my first record at the age of 55. Lori Weiss, the writer, did a fantastic job and brought me to tears. That’s the most exciting thing going on with me right now and I can’t seem to write about anything else right now accept to say how blessed I am and how grateful I am to Sandy Knox and Wrinkled Records for giving me the opportunity to come out of the shadows with this record.&
Hello Friends..It’s really starting to heat up here in Nashville. In my life too. I’m still getting a lot of airplay and am now recording liners for a lot of the blues stations that are playing me. I recently did an interview for the Americana Gazette which will be out in September. Bob and I will be going to Lexington Ky on July 1st to tape “Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour”. That’s very exciting for us. They have a huge audience so it will be great for us. Bob and I wrote a new song and recorded it last week. I’m excited to work it up for the show on July 7th, here in Nashville. I’ve been making some “behind the scenes of my life” videos which will be coming up on youtube very soon. Check them out and see how I spend my time at home when not working. On the home front, Ruddy the rooster is really getting his crow going. Everyday it gets stronger and louder. He is making his way around the hen house as well, if you know what I mean. I’m still waiting on my first egg from these gals. Should be any day now. I have a farm blog I’d love for you to check out as well..http://mymovetothecountry.blogspot.com/. See you next time.
Hey Folks, I am staying busy these days. Radio is still being kind to me and spinning the record. I have a lot of new shows added and have recently acquired a booking agent so, soon I’ll be hitting the road. I’ll keep you posted on the dates. I have recently been selected to be interviewed for a book and a CRC national radio program in Canada. I’m very excited about it and I will be doing the interview at the end of the month. I’ll put information here on the site. Bob and I are writing and will have some new songs very soon. There are a couple of benefit shows I’m doing this month as well that are very worthy causes. One is for Marshall Law, a musician battling stage 4 cancer. I’ll be on with Billy Swan, Linda Davis and a host of other great performers. The other is for Sophie Salveson, a young college student who had a stroke a couple of months back. This one is very dear to my heart because I have daughters her age and can’t imagine that happening to one of them. My heart goes out to her and her family. Performers on that one is Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Melinda Dolittle, to name just a few. On the home front, the chicks and rooster are all well. Our rooster started learning to crow yesterday and it’s fun to listen to him find his voice. The garden is getting big and we’re starting to get squash, tomatoes, onions, carrots and beans. The others will take a little longer. I’ve been baking a little recently. It’s a great stress buster. Until next time.
Hello Friends. I’ve been a very busy gal. Since the release of the cd, I have been touring with Delbert McClinton and Paul Thorn. I recently did a 4 show tour with Paul in Texas and I’m getting ready to head out with Delbert, opening 2 shows June 1 and 2. I also have a week out with him at the end of July. All the dates are in the tour section. I’ve very excited to be opening for in at BB King in New York City on July 27th. The cd is getting great reviews and I have had some awesome articles written about me. The cd charted at #20 on The Living Blues Charts and is now being played on over 175 stations throughout the country as well as Canada, Australia, and other countries. I’m thrilled with all that is going on and am looking forward to much more to come. On the home front, the chicks are all out and roaming all over the farm, especially in the yard. We have lost 3 of them to a wiley coyote but are keeping a close eye on the 17 we have left. I do believe one of the girls will have to be named George though. We’ll know in a month or so if we hear some crowing. More next time..
Hi Friends. I hope this finds you all well. April was an exciting, whirlwind of a month. I did a show in Louisville at Jim Porters, a writers night at Indigo Hotel in Nashville and released “OUT OF THE SHADOWS” on the 24th. That night we did our release show at 3rd and Lindsley to a packed house. The band and singers were amazing and the night was a success. I just returned from two shows with Delbert McClinton which is always a thrill. I have been invited on the Sandy Beaches Cruise in Jan 2013 and will be performing with a band. That’s a total thrill. The record is getting more adds on Blues and Americana stations. On the home front: My chickens and rooster (s) are just about ready to come out of their coop and start wandering the land. I just want to make sure things are secure for them. We have a lot planted in the garden and we’re starting to see the plants growing. More later..
Tin Pan South was fabulous last night. I shared new songs with everyone and they were very well received. It was a little daunting at first knowing I was singing my songs in front of award winning songwriters but last night only put a fire under me to step up my writing even more. I don’t have this first record officially released yet and I’m already planning the next. I have another writer’s night coming up, a show in Louisville and of course, my CD release show in April. I’m thrilled with everything the label is doing and I know my future’s looking bright. On the home front, we now have a great recording space and have a small room for me to use for my own. I have dubbed it “The Lounge”. It’s awesome to sit here and work, read, exercise and just hang out. Our daughter Hannah is moving back in with us so she can go to nursing school. I’m thrilled about that. We love having our girls here and we have an open door policy for them no matter what age they are..My chickens are getting big and exploring the outside in a fence we built for them. It’s spring now and everything is blooming. It’s always a time for renewal and that’s how I feel about my life right now. It’s a renewal, an awakening in me that’s been lying dormant for a while.&
Hello friends, This has been a whirlwind couple of months. I finished the record and we have received copies to sell at my shows and send out for promotions. Wrinkled Records is fabulous. They have hired Lance Cowan as my publicist. He’s working hard for me. I went on the road with Delbert McClinton for a couple of shows. I got to sing backup with him and he featured me for two songs on the first night and I opened for him the second night. I sold cd’s and met a lot of wonderful folks that have become fans. It was awesome. I played The Billy Block show and it was streaming “live” for folks not in Nashville. I have a show coming up March 16th at Two Old Hippies in the gulch and my cd release show is booked for April 26th at 3rd and Lindsley. The record is available for digital download on Wrinkledrecords.com and the physical release is April 24th. On the home front, Bob and I have started working on the garden and planting a little. We planted 3 different kinds of lettuce, some spinach and leeks today. I cleared out my herb garden and cleaned out the rosemary. The weather is beautiful right now and it’s so tempting to prune my roses and plant flowers but I’ll hold off until it’s spring. My little chicks along with the little rooster and guineas are doing great. Mater, the donkey is my pal now. He follows me around and allowed me to brush him only for a minute today..Things are great here on the farm and I’m loving getting my solo career going and can’t wait to see where coming “Out of the Shadows” will take me..More later..&
