WELCOME
As soon as I heard those words, “Front and center kids, breakfast is ready,” I couldn’t wait to put my little feet on that cold wood floor and run to the pot bellied stove that stood in the middle of the kitchen. That is where the heart of that little four room house was. It was home. All eight of us children would gather around that little stove to get warm and to take in those wonderful smells my mother was creating. On any given day we would feast on bacon and eggs, grits, hot biscuits with gravy, (only my mother could make of course) fresh churned butter, sweet jams, oatmeal, pancakes and freshly brewed coffee. We didn’t have much money but my mother always made sure we were well fed and our handmade or hand me down clothes were clean and free of wrinkles.

These are the earliest memories of my childhood. These are the cherished moments that are engraved in my mind, where they will stay tucked away and come out to play every now and then.  As in most families there are also some “not so cherished” moments that I will share with you as well.

This is my story. Some might call it a memoir, some might call it a diary and some might call it a journal. I call it a journey, my journey. It’s a trip through my life as a child growing up in Kentucky to where I am today, daughter of God, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a singer in Nashville, Tennessee. I’m not just a singer however, I’m a fifty-eight year old singer who signed my first and only record deal at age fifty-three and released an album called “Out Of The Shadows” at age fifty-five.

My journey has brought me to this exciting life I’m living right now. I’m in a peaceful place and each morning, when I wake, I think to myself, “I wonder what blessing God is going to give me today.”  Come travel the road with me as I take you on a trip through my life.
